THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK ESPORTS... The Upper Iowa University Esports team played just one match this week after having their Valorant contest postponed, and the Peacocks were unable to secure a victory in their lone competition. UIU fell by a score of 3-0 in their best-of-five Rocket League match against undefeated Concordia University - Wisconsin on Tuesday.
NECC ROCKET LEAGUE - 10/12... Upper Iowa was looking to build upon an impressive comeback victory in their last match, but the Peacocks were unable to continue their momentum against an undefeated Concordia-Wisconsin squad. UIU fell by a score of 3-0 as the Peacocks fell to a 2-2 record on the season while the Falcons improved to 3-0.
In the first game, CUW jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before
Cody Lawrence recorded the first UIU goal at the 2:13 mark after an assist from
Brady Krupa. Neither team was able to get much going offensively in the ensuing minutes, but the Falcons put in a goal with just two seconds left on the clock to increase their lead to 4-1 and win the opening game of the best-of-five match.
The Peacocks pushed hard to start game two and made a number of good offensive attacks, but Concordia-Wisconsin was able to score on a counterattack at the 3:58 mark to go up 1-0. CUW added goals at the 3:10 and 3:02 marks to increase their lead to 3-0, but Upper Iowa's
Sean Odegard scored a goal just two seconds later on the kickoff to cut their deficit to 3-1. The Falcons regained their three-goal lead at the 1:26 mark and claimed their second straight 4-1 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
In game three, Concordia-Wisconsin scored first yet again with a long goal at the 4:33 mark, but the Peacocks answered with a goal from Odegard just 16 seconds later to tie the score at 1-1. A CUW score at the 3:34 mark put them up 2-1, and the Falcons followed that with goals at the 3:20 and 3:18 marks to quickly jump out to a 4-1 lead. Concordia-Wisconsin scored twice in a two-second span once again after going up 5-1 at the 1:59 mark and scoring on the kickoff at the 1:57 mark to take a 6-1 advantage. Goals from CUW at the 1:34 and 0:30 marks allowed the Falcons to clinch the best-of-five contest with an 8-1 win in game three.
