Upper Iowa was tripped by Davenport University in a 2-0 loss on Saturday afternoon. Following the loss, the Peacocks move to 0-4 while the Panthers improve to 3-1.
Davenport found the net for the first time in the 22nd minute when Cian Quinn headed in a cross off the foot of Evan Marquess on a corner kick. The Panthers added another at the 33:22 mark when Marquess dribbled up the near side into the box where he was able to curve a kick past Reighly Schultz just to the right of the left goal post for his second score of the season.
Upper Iowa was unable to score themselves in the match, resulting in the 2-0 defeat. Frider Blunck came close on a shot that ricocheted off of the cross bar late in the second half but was ruled offside.
TURNING POINT… Quinn's first goal off of Marquess' corner opened things up for Davenport and allowed the Panthers to take control.
PEACOCK OF THE MATCH... Marcus DeLeon registered two of Upper Iowa's four shots, one of which was on target.
