Peacocks to Host Panthers Saturday

The Peacocks are set to host the University of Davenport Panthers on Saturday, Mar. 27 at noon. Attendance policies have changed regarding GLIAC events as 375 fans are now permitted to attend men’s soccer home games. Live stats and a webcast are available at UIUPeacocks.com/LIVE while gameday programs have gone digital and can be found at UIUPeacocks.com/PROGRAMS.

ROCKY ROAD… Upper Iowa fell 3-0 in Sunday's match versus the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention, Edgar Heredia Victoria recorded a hat trick in the Ranger's victory. Reighly Schultz totaled five saves in the match, the junior currently sits in first place in the GLIAC in saves with 24 and save percentage at .727. Head Coach Willie McGowan dubbed the defeat as a learning experience and expects the squad to bounce back at home versus the Panthers.

STAN THE MAN… Stan Cargill led the Peacocks with two shots on goal on Sunday. The sophomore leads Upper Iowa in nearly every offensive category; goals (2), assists (1), points (5), shots (7), and shots on goal (5). 

DISSECTING DAVENPORT… After a 10-8-1 (9-4-1) record during the 2019 campaign, Davenport is off to a hot start at 2-1. The Panthers took down Northwood University 4-2 before splitting a pair of 2-1 home matches first defeating Northern Michigan University before falling to Purdue University-Northwest. Leading DU's offense thus far is junior forward Matt Whelan who's amassed three goals. The Cork, Ireland was the Panthers' leading scorer in 2019 with 21 points (eight goals, five assists) and had two goals in the two team's last matchup in Fayette. In net for Davenport is graduate transfer Carter Selvius. Selvius has allowed four goals and made nine saves. As a team, DU is outscoring its opponents 7-5 through three matches.

UP NEXT… Upper Iowa will host Northern Michigan University for its final home match of the spring on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 11 a.m.
