Peacocks To Host Timberwolves in Home Opener

Upper Iowa will play their home opener against the Timberwolves of Northwood University on Sunday, Mar. 14 at noon. Attendance is not permitted at any GLIAC events, but fans can follow along via live stats and a webcast using the links above or by visiting UIUPeacocks.com/LIVE. FIRST FORTY-SEVEN… Upper Iowa had an impeccable showing in the first 47 minutes of action on Saturday. Stan Cargill kicked off the action finding the back of the net from 25 feet out at the 17:03 mark. Cargill then found Alan Dunlop in the box for his first career goal after receiving a cross-field pass from Tate Lofdahl in the 47th minute. The native of London, England earned a GLIAC Offensive Player of the week honorable mention thanks to his three points in the match providing the push to put UIU up 2-0 midway through the match.

TWELVE TOUGH MINUTES… Purdue-Northwest scored three goals in under 12 minutes (61:13-72:39) on Saturday afternoon giving the home team a lead they never surrendered. Peacock Goalkeeper Reighly Schultz saved all six shots on goal he faced up until the stretch. GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Matt Bahena, scored or assisted on all three of the Pride's goals. 

TALKING THE TIMBERWOLVES… Northwood held an 11-8-1 record last season, 8-6 in conference play finishing fourth overall in the GLIAC. The Timberwolves are coming off a 4-1 loss against Davenport University that kicked off the 2020 campaign. The Timberwolves 2018 leading goal scorer, forward Austin Hobbs returns to Northwood for his senior season. Hobbs tallied a pair of assists in the Timberwolves' two previous meetings with the Peacocks. Corbin Cecchini is back in net for Northwood. The three-year starter has amassed 219 saves, 18 shutouts, and a .755 save percentage during his time in Midland, Mich.

UP NEXT… Upper Iowa will return to the road headed east to Kenosha, Wis. where the Peacocks will face the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Mar. 21 at 12 p.m.
