The Upper Iowa University women's soccer team could not contain Concordia University, St. Paul as they fell by a score of 4-0 in St. Paul, Minn. The Peacocks fall to 5-5 (3-6 NSIC) on the season while the Golden Bears improve to 6-4-1 (5-2-1 NSIC) on the season.
The Peacocks took the first shot of the match at the 9:05 mark, but
Haley Ramberg's attempt was off target. The Golden Bears put the next two shots of the match on goal, but UIU's
Natalie Rudrud made a pair of saves in the 11th and 16th minutes to thwart the offensive attack. Concordia, St. Paul's third try proved to be the charm as they converted on their third shot of the match at the 18:25 mark to take a 1-0 advantage off a high header.
Neither team registered a shot on goal for the remainder of the first period, and Upper Iowa was held without a shot attempt after their first in the 10th minute as they faced a 1-0 deficit at halftime. In the second half, the CSP offense maintained the momentum and doubled their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 56th minute.
Toni Powsey took Upper Iowa's first and only shot on goal of the match at the 60:43 mark as UIU looked to get on the board, but the attempt was saved.
Concordia, St. Paul kept the Peacocks in check as neither offense made much headway for the next 19 minutes, but the Golden Bears added scores at the 80:23 and 83:23 marks to boost their lead to 4-0. UIU took three shots from the 79th to the 86th minutes, but none of their attempts were able to find the mark as CSP finished with the shutout victory.
