Peacock Esports Dominant in League of Legends Victory Over Hood College

Upper Iowa's esports team continued the 2020-21 League of Legends season against Hood College on Thursday night. The Peacocks held a commanding lead throughout play to claim the victory in just two rounds. The match was part of the New England Collegiate Conference League of Legends schedule. The NECC sponsors competition in League of Legends each Thursday evening through Nov. 5.

The Set Up...

Competing for Upper Iowa was Darius Arickx as the jungle, Chase Halbech in the top lane, Robert Ngo in the mid lane, Nick Finder as the ADC, and Eliana Lebron as support.

Match Highlights...

Robert Ngo led the Peacocks in game one with a program record 30 kills. Upper Iowa's bottom lane found their footing adding a cumulative six kills and 26 assists. UIU completed game one in a season-low 20:21.

The Peacocks began game two by invading the Hood College jungle and claiming first blood prior to reaching the one minute mark. From there UIU never looked back. Upper Iowa was able to take individual leads and force Hood back against their own base. The Peacocks utilized great communication to dive under towers to accumulate kills resulting in a siege of the opposing base and Nexus 22 minutes into the round. 

Stats of the Match...

  • Upper Iowa totaled a 81/11/104 KDA over the two matches.
  • The Peacocks set a new single-game season-high with 59 assists as a team in game two.

Peacocks of the Match...

  • Ngo's 30 kills in game one set a program record. He also tacked on a game-high 16 kills in round two.
  • Arickx led the Peacocks in creep score with 321. 
  • LeBron led the team in assists with 34 as she registered 17 apiece in the two sets.

Upper Iowa will begin their ECAC Rocket League season on Monday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m against a to be determined opponent.
