TONIGHT IN PEACOCK WRESTLING... No. 10 Upper Iowa welcomes the No. 17 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday for Senior Night in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium. Minnesota State comes into the dual with an 8-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the Northern Sun Conference, while the Peacocks hold a 12-3 record overall and are 5-1 in NSIC action this season. While the Mavericks come in following a 36-12 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead on Thursday, the Peacocks are coming off a 19-12 home loss to Augustana University on Sunday.
LIVE OPTIONS… Fans unable to make the trip to Fayette can follow the action through live scoring or a webcast online or stream the dual with the NSIC app on Roku and Fire devices, as well as Apple and Android televisions. The dual will also be broadcast live on KCRG-TV 9.3 across eastern Iowa.

PEACOCKS IN THE RANKINGS… Upper Iowa is ranked No. 10 in the country in the latest national poll and boasts three individuals in the rankings as well. Baumler, a two-time All-American at 197 pounds, is ranked No. 2 behind Ryan Vasbinder of McKendree, who nipped Baumler 4-3 at the NWCA National Duals. Baumler is now 25-2 with 15 bonus-point wins including 11 majors, two falls and two tech falls. Folley, ranked No. 3 at 133 pounds for the second poll in a row, is 23-1 on the year. The senior has registered 16 bonus-point wins including six wins by fall, a pair of tech falls and eight majors. His only loss came in the first place match at the Auggie-Adidas Invite to Victor Gliva of Augsburg, a 2019 NCAA Division III All-American. Luensman, a 149-pound freshman, comes in at No. 7 nationally and has put together an impressive run in his first season with Upper Iowa. The Monticello, Iowa native is 26-6 with 11 bonus-point wins including two falls, four tech falls and five majors. In the last four weeks, Luensman defeated No. 12 Juwan Edmond of McKendree, No. 5 Christopher Donathan of Tiffin and No. 8 Caden Moore of Northern State. At the NWCA National Duals, he lost a hard fought 7-5 decision to Chris Eddins Jr., who is ranked No. 1 and is the reigning two-time NCAA Division II Champion from Pitt-Johnstown.

LAST YEAR'S MEETING IN MANKATO… The No. 19 Peacocks and No. 9 Mavericks locked up in a dual full of ups and downs for both squads. The two teams each won five matches including three decisions and a pair of bonus-point wins. While Upper Iowa posted a pair of major decisions, the Mavericks edged their guests by a single point on the final scoreboard, 18-17, thanks to a major and a tech fall in the final bout of the night. UIU grabbed a 13-6 lead after three straight wins by
Dalton Hahn,
Nick Baumler and
Triston Westerlund. Baumler scored seven takedowns on the way to a 16-5 major decision. After a major decision by the Mavericks, the Peacocks sent
Justin Folley to the mat for an answer and he delivered a major of his own to give UIU a 17-10 lead with two matches to go. Minnesota State grabbed a tight decision at 141 pounds and then dominated the 149-pound bout 20-5 to grab a dual-winning tech fall.
UP NEXT… The Peacocks will close out their 2020 regular season schedule with a dual next Thursday, Feb. 13 at No. 1 St. Cloud State University. The Peacocks and Huskies will line up for their top-10 showdown at 7 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minn.
