On Thursday night, Peacock Esports began their Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Fortnite season with a pair of Battle Royales. The ECAC Fortnite season runs through mid-November with 50 duos from different universities competing against each other every Thursday at 7 p.m. Duos are ranked by league points which are determined via placement and eliminations of competitors.

The Set Up...

The Duo for Upper Iowa consisted of team captain, Josh Shableua and Sean Odegard.

Match Highlights...

In the first match, Upper Iowa had a hot landing and were contested by the opposition before they could find weapons. UIU was able to hold out longer than 17 other duos to place 33rd in the match starting the season with one league point.

In match two, the Peacocks had a seamless drop. After finding some weapons the tandem was able to eliminate a pair of opponents before they were taken out themselves. Finishing in 27th, Upper Iowa was granted two points from eliminations and an additional point for their place resulting in three points total for the match and four on the night.

"We got unlucky on our first drop but I was glad to see the guys stay alive long enough to place" said Head Coach, Jim Lowery. "In the second match they were actually in a good spot but the duo that ended up winning caught them in a crossfire and that was the end of our night. I am looking forward to better things next week"
