Upper Iowa Esports played their third ECAC Overwatch match of the season against the Friars of Providence College.

Match Highlights...

On the first map, Oasis, the Peacocks were unable to achieve control in either round. In the first round they could not claim the point but in round two they did for a brief period before being eliminated by the Friars' tanks. Trace Woodward played most of the map on Reinhardt and had top damage blocked for the map with 10,094.

On the second map, the Peacocks chose to go to Route 66 for their Escort map. Peacocks led off pushing the payload, and after a great team fight that earned them the first objective, UIU was stymied in the tunnel leading to the second point for PC. Upper Iowa headed to overtime where they were able to take the second objective granting them an extra 90 seconds. In the second overtime, Upper Iowa claimed the third objective. Despite a strong defensive effort, UIU gave up an objective with 1:28 left on the clock. With the game moving into sudden death UIU was able to move the payload but the effort was not enough to stop the Friars' attack. Angel Jaquez received top damage healed on map two with 35,396 points of healing.

On the third map, the Peacocks once again had choice and decided to go to Volskaya Industries, an assault map type. They were halted as attackers, and needed a perfect defensive run. After Providence forced UIU to give up a tick on the objective the match was over. Brady Jahr led the Peacocks in damage blocked with 14,288.

Quotables...

"Not quite what we were looking for here tonight, however the team played well despite not being able to walk away winning any of the three maps. On Route 66 I absolutely thought we were the better team, and it was great to watch them push for two full objectives in overtime, and then do it again in sudden death" said Head Coach, Jim Lowery. "After the match, the team didn't get down on themselves. We talked about the newly released rules for the playoffs, and what we had to do to qualify, and we are looking forward to next week."
