Upper Iowa Baseball Moves Series with Wolves Due to Field Conditions

Upper Iowa will host the Wolves of Northern State University on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 23-24, as scheduled, but not in Fayette. The teams will meet in Mauston, Wisconsin for a double header on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. and a single, nine-inning game on Sunday at noon.

SCHEDULE UPDATE… Upper Iowa will host the Wolves of Northern State University on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 23-24, as scheduled, but not in Fayette. The teams will meet in Mauston, Wisconsin for a double header on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. and a single, nine-inning game on Sunday at noon. 
 
EVEN STEVEN... Upper Iowa has split with all four of their opponents this season as Lewis University, Quincy University, the University of Minnesota Duluth and the University of Mary grabbed the first half of each series and Upper Iowa winning the second half. On the season, the Peacocks have scored 78 runs while allowing 72 runs to their opponents.
 
TAKE A WHIFF... Junior pitcher Duncan Snider is off to a solid start for Upper Iowa and is coming off a great week against both No. 14 Quincy and Minnesota Duluth. Last week, Snider threw 13 innings and earned his first win in Peacock blue and white with an 8-inning, 12-strikeout performance against the Bulldogs. He posted a no-decision in his first start against the Hawks with 5 innings and 8 strikeouts; Snider allowed just 3 runs in his two starts. For the year, the Muscatine, Iowa product has a 2.81 ERA in his 16 innings and holds opponents to a .215 batting average.
 
HIT PARADE... The Peacock offense has opened the season very well boasting six players with a batting average above .300 including A.J. Friedrich (.571), Tony Salato (.533), Zackary Cain (.417), Kyle Routhieaux (.368), Riley Braughton (.333) and Hogan Penny (.300). The team posts a .337 average, a .458 slugging percentage thanks to 14 dobules, 2 triples and 5 home runs, and an impressive .420 on-base percentage thanks to their 92 hits, 35 walks and 7 hit batsmen. Friedrich and Routhieaux lead the team in run production with 10 and 9 RBI, respectively, while Friedrich, Salato and Cain have combined for 47 of the team's hits.
 
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS AND WOLVES... The Marauders swept the University of Sioux Falls to open their NSIC campaign, while the Wolves took one out of three from Winona State University to begin their conference schedule. UMary is led by their pitching staff which has posted a team ERA of 5.17, but Parker McRae (2-1, 0.96 ERA, 18.2 innings) and Zac Martin (1-1, 1.88 ERA, 14.1 innings) have held opponents at bay from the mound. A veteran group of hitters lead the UMary offense. Northern State has won by behind the big bat of Hayden Houts. NSU's first baseman is hitting .412 and already has 21 hits including 3 doubles, a triple and 3 home runs.
