Upper Iowa scored the first three runs of the game but the Riverhawks pushed across the next six to hand the Peacocks a 6-3 loss. UIU moved to 8-7 on the season.

Kaylee Frenette led the offense with three hits, a run, and an RBI while Emily Draeger and Sami Kay Shafranski each finished with a pair of hits.

The Peacocks will close out their non-conference slate on Saturday with two games. UIU is set to face the University of Central Missouri at 10 a.m. and Emporia State University at 3 p.m.

Northeastern State 6, Upper Iowa 3

Upper Iowa quickly pieced together three hits to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning with no outs. After Kaylee Frenette singled and Jordyn Brennan doubled, Julia Buffington stepped up to the plate and scored Frenette with a single through the left side. Brennan later scored on a steal attempt at second base to extend the lead to 2-0 at the end of the frame.

The Peacocks added a run in the second inning when Kennedy Newell reached home with an infield single from Frenette. Upper Iowa looked to increase its lead with two more runners in scoring position, but the inning was halted by a strikeout.

Northeastern State scored one in the bottom of the second inning, and then was able to tie the game at 3-3 in the third with two runs that scored off an error in the Peacock outfield. The Riverhawks gained their first lead of the game with a two-run single in the fourth and added an insurance tally in the sixth while UIU stranded seven Peacocks on base over the last five innings.

Emily Kisch (5-3) suffered the loss after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits. Sydney Wilcox entered in relief and tossed the final 2.0 innings, giving up one run on three hits.
