Facienne Graham converted the game's lone score to give the Upper Iowa women's soccer team their first NSIC victory of 2018 and second shutout of the season. With the win, Upper Iowa improved to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference and have defeated the Dragons in nine straight contests.

Graham came off the bench to lead the Peacocks with a game-high six shots and five shots on goal, while scoring her first goal of the season in the 74th minute to put Upper Iowa in the winning column for the first time since Aug. 30.

The first half of play was an offensive battle for each team with MSUM edging UIU 7-6 in shots and each keeper recording three saves. Natalie Rudrud's saves were highlighted by a big turn away in the 13th minute when she knocked Kylee Billings' straight-shot free kick out of frame. Shortly after, MSUM missed an opportunity to get on the board when the Dragons were called offsides on Jessica Dallman's header that found the back of the net. The teams would take a scoreless tie into the break.

The Dragons opened up the second period with four quick shots, but Upper Iowa soon found their stride with Maida Alijagic and Graham leading the offensive pressure. Alijagic took a shot in the 65th minute that was blocked by the Dragons and turned into a penalty kick opportunity that unfortunately for the Peacocks went just wide of the mark.

The rest of the game was all Graham. The junior took the final four shots for the Peacocks, one of which turned into the game-winner. MSUM tried to respond with five unanswered shots to close out the period, but the Peacock defense was able to block two and save one to hold on for the win. Upper Iowa continued to build upon its offense by taking a season-high twelve shots. Rudrud finished the afternoon with eight saves.

The Peacocks will carry their momentum to Aberdeen, S.D. to round out a weekend of NSIC competition at Northern State University. Kickoff against the Wolves is set for 1 p.m.
