Upper Iowa finally got on the diamond against Quincy University this season. The Peacocks and Hawks have postponed their non-conference doubleheader on two different occasions due to winter weather. Quincy was ranked 8th in the first NCAA Regional Polls that were released last Wednesday. The Hawks rallied to steal a win in game one, 8-6, taking their first lead of the game in the seventh inning and then controlled game two from the outset, 15-3, to improve to 33-13. The Peacocks are now 14-23 overall.
Upper Iowa will close out the regular season this Friday and Saturday at home when they host the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato. First pitch for both doubleheaders is set for 1 p.m. at Robertson Woods Field. The Peacocks need to have a big series against Minnesota State and get some help from the three teams above them to earn a spot in the 2018 NSIC Baseball Championships next week.
Game One: Quincy 8 - Upper Iowa 6
Upper Iowa got on the board quickly in the first game thanks to four hits including back-to-back doubles off the bats of
Jacob Greco and

Collin Thomas. Poor forced a flyout to left to end the threat and preserve a one-run lead, 6-5.

Quincy's top reliever Karl Hirsch got a strikeout and flyball to center to strand Greco at third and keep the Hawks within one run heading to the sixth inning.
