This Week in Peacock Baseball... The Peacocks (14-18, 10-14 NSIC) will pack six games into four days this week as weather pushed their double header with Wayne State back a day to Thursday in Wayne, Neb. Upper Iowa will come home after the two games and then head back west after classes on Friday. UIU is slated for a four-game series with the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday and Sunday in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Cain is Able... Sophomore
Zackary Cain has enjoying a solid second season in Peacock blue and white. The pitcher/first baseman is hitting .349, second on the team, this year with 30 hits including 6 doubles while driving in 16 baserunners and scoring 14 runs. On the hill, Cain is 3-3 with a 3.95 earned run average in 41 innings. The Plymouth, Wis. native has pitched in nine games while making eight starts for UIU with two complete games.

Fanning the Fire... Brett Fanning is having a great time on the bump for the Peacocks this year. Sure, winning helps, the redshirt junior is 4-2 with a 2.51 earned run average in 43 innings, but he's on the mound and that hasn't been the case through his first three seasons. Early season injuries have plagued the talented right-handers' career and Peacock fans are just now getting to enjoy his pitching skills as the ace of the UIU pitching staff. Fanning has completed five of his seven starts including a shutout against the University of Minnesota Duluth.
