THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK MEN'S BASKETBALL…
The Peacocks will fly west to Anaheim, Calif. this weekend for three games at the Disney Tip-Off Classic. Upper Iowa will kickoff the 2017-18 campaign with a matchup against the Coyotes of California State University, San Bernardino on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. UIU will then play on Saturday, Nov. 4 against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University at 3:30 p.m., and will finish up the weekend on Sunday, Nov. 5 against the Jacks of Humboldt State University at 5:30 p.m.

PEACOCK STORYLINES...

NSIC PRESEASON POLL: The Northern Sun Conference released the 2017-18 Preseason Coaches' Poll, and the Peacocks have been picked to finish eighth overall in the 16-team league, and fourth in the eight-team NSIC South Division. Both picks are the highest in program history after a record-setting campaign in 2016-17. Northern State was selected as the overall and north division champion to open the season.

PLAYER TO WATCH: The NSIC has chosen senior Carson Parker as the NSIC Preseason Player to Watch for the year. Parker earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team a season ago, and headlines a returning class that includes redshirt junior Dennis Austin III, senior Mitch Eighme, senior Kam Rowan, and junior Munachiso Okonkwo. Parker finished second on the team with 11.9 points per game, and brought late-game heroics to the squad, with buzzer-beating shots to win against Southwest Minnesota State, Augustana, and Minnesota Crookston, and to tie Northwest Missouri State.

NEARING 1,000: Parker enters his final season as a Peacock with 933 career points, and is eyeing to become the 27th member of the 1,000-point club. The club has seen two members join in each of the last two seasons, and Parker is just 67 points away from that feat.

CALIFORNIA CALLIN: Upper Iowa is back in California for the second time in the last three seasons. UIU traveled to Anaheim to open the 2015-16 season at the CCA Tip-Off Classic, and loss three games to Alaska Anchorage, #15 Western Washington, and #11 California Baptist. The Peacocks will look for more success this time around The Golden State.

THE SERIES…

The Peacocks will match up with all three schools for the first time in program history this weekend in Anaheim. California State San Bernardino resides in San Bernardino, Calif. and plays in the Califonia Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Palm Beach Atlantic University resides in West Palm Beach, Fla. and plays in the Sunshine State Conference. Humboldt State University is located in Arcata, Calif. and joins CSU San Bernardino in the CCAA.
