The Peacock men's soccer team wrapped up the exhibition season Saturday in Fayette against the Bulldogs of Truman State University. Despite good offensive looks from both team throughout the game, neither team was able to put the ball in the net, and the game ended in a scoreless tie.

The first half featured solid defense from both sides. The visitors held a slim advantage in shots (4-3), but Peacock goalkeeper Connor Rortvedt saved the lone shot place on goal. UIU had very few chances to score as Truman State's defense held strong in the first 45 minutes.

It was a very physical second half, that featured fouls for both sides throughout. Upper Iowa's best chances to score came mid-way through the second period from Ryan Pinkerton and Blair Lyons. Pinkerton just missed high on a look on the left side, while Lyons had a shot saved by Bulldog goalkeeper Zac Suazo. Truman State held the advantage in shots (6-4) in the second half, and Suazo recorded three saves in goal as well.

The physical play by both sides was evident with 21 total fouls called in the game. The Peacocks trailed their guests in total shot attempts (10-7) while the teams tied in corners earned (5).

Upper Iowa will begin the season in Kenosha, Wis. on Sept. 2 against the Rangers of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 12 p.m. The Peacocks will not be back to Pattison Field in Fayette until Sept. 23 when they open up MIAA action with Southwest Baptist University.
