Members of the UIU cheer team traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Cheer Ltd. National Cheer and Dance Team Competition.  The team competed in the stunt group division and came away with the first place victory.  This win marks a first for the program and first for Upper Iowa University in competitive cheer.

This group of Peacock athletes made University history as the first competition cheer team representing Upper Iowa on a national setting.  These athletes made the impossible look easy performing a serious of twist, turns, flips, and tosses. As the very last team to compete, the arena was full of other teams, spectators, as well as two Peacock fans that made the trip from Iowa to South Carolina.

In its second season back on the campus, the cheer program has made its presence known. This year the program added a competitive component, as well as a new "Pete" the Peacock, to the traditional game day appearances and sideline crowd leading.  These additions will continue to bring Upper Iowa and the cheer program into a new national spotlight.
