The Peacocks (14-14, 10-9 NSIC) had a tough shooting second half, going 12-of-37 (32.4%) in the final 20 minutes, while the Golden Bears (10-15, 7-12 NSIC) shot 50% (14-28) and outscored UIU by 13 in the second half.

The Upper Iowa men's basketball team fell to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears 87-79 in Dorman Gym on Friday night.

Both teams started the game shooting the ball poorly, but CSP had a 14-13 lead nearly eight minutes into the opening half. The Peacocks then went on a 15-3 run over the next four minutes to go up by 11. UIU hit three 3-pointers in the run and went 7-of-14 from beyond the arc in the first half on their way to a five point, 44-39, lead at the half.

After a Jarrod Gamble trifecta started the second half, Concordia went on an 8-0 to tie the game at 47-47 two minutes into the latter period. Both teams battled back and forth with neither team taking control of the game over the next nine minutes as the game was tied for the fifth time at 63-63 with 7:57 left.

Over the next 6:30 of game time, the Golden Bears went on a 15-4 run that gave them a game-high 11 point lead with less than 90 seconds remaining in the game. During that time, the Peacocks went just 1-for-8 from the floor with a pair of turnovers as CSP took control.

UIU cut the deficit to five, 84-79, with 24 seconds left, but couldn't get any closer as the Golden Bears hit a few free throws to seal the game.

Carson Parker led the Peacocks with 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists, all team-highs. Jimmy Roth added 13 points, while Josh Weeber chipped in 12.

The Peacocks will be back in Dorman Gym tomorrow night, Saturday, Feb. 13, when they play host to the Mavericks of Minnesota State. Tip-off will be at 6:00 p.m. following the conclusion of the UIU and MSU women's game.
