Upper Iowa defeated the Huskies of St. Cloud State University on Saturday afternoon in a four-set affair. The Peacocks honored their four seniors prior to the match in Dorman Gym and then put an exclamation on the day with the Northern Sun Conference win to move up to sole possession of 10th place in the nation's top collection of volleyball programs. The win over the Huskies marked Upper Iowa's sixth straight and ninth in the last ten matches with SCSU. The last time St. Cloud State got the better of the Peacocks was three years ago. UIU closed out their season with a 13-16 record overall and a 7-13 mark in the NSIC.

Kelsey Hinrichs,
Miranda LeJeune and
Alisha VanderWoude were recognized in front of the home crowd prior to the match. The quartet combined for 35 of the team's 49 kills and led the team to their 13th win of the season. The Peacocks finished the season with a 13-7 mark against teams not listed in the AVCA Top 25, but 0-9 against the nation's Top 25.
Both teams tallied similar stat totals in the match with SCSU claiming a 53-49 advantage in kills and UIU posting a 70-64 advantage in digs, but Upper Iowa looked for the edge with blocking at the net. The Peacocks outblocked their guests 7-2 led by
Bethany Lovhaug's 4 blocks. The two teams struggled in serve recieve with the home team committing 6 errors and the visitors giving away 10 serves in the match.
Upper Iowa's offense was efficient as it committed only 14 attack errors while hitting .263 to record their 49 kills. Berry led the team with 15 kills, while Hinirichs added 10 and VanderWoude and
Haley Poula both knocked down 9 apiece. Both
Carlee Ketchum and
Malissa LeClaire handed out 22 assists to pace the offense, while Ketchum led the defense with 19 digs. Hinrichs registered 14 digs, while
Gabby Holmes and
Ashley Larson chipped in 10 and 11, respectively.
The Peacocks won the first set 25-22 before the Huskies rallied to claim the second set 25-23 and tie the match at 1-1. Upper Iowa claimed a 25-23 third set win and then controlled the fourth set 25-17 to win the match.
