Marauders Snap Peacock's Win Streak with 2-1 Decision

U-Mary 2 - Upper Iowa 1. The Peacocks had their five-match win streak snapped on Saturday in Bismarck, N.D. as the Marauders out shot the Peacocks 20-5 to post the 2-1 victory.

The Peacock's five-match win streak ended on Saturday in Bismarck, N.D. when the University of Mary Marauders outlasted Upper Iowa 2-1.  After each team scored a goal early in the first half, the Marauders claimed the game winner with just over three minutes to play.

The home team outshot their guest 20-5 and tested Upper Iowa's defenders and goalkeeper with 11 attempts on frame.

Alexis Nahring opened the day's scoring with a goal in the 8th minute thanks to an assist from Tiffany Olhauser.  Upper Iowa answered with a goal in the 16th minute when Maggie Olson finished off a rebound of a Jordyn Ostrowski's shot that the U-Mary keeper couldn't handle.

The ball stayed out of the net until the waning minutes of the game as Emily Julian converted a give-and-go with her teammate, Michelle McGeary, to put the home team ahead 2-1.

After the loss, Upper Iowa is in fifth place heading into their big match up with Minot State University on Sunday afternoon.  The Beavers are ranked 13th in the nation and are undefeated (9-0) in Northern Sun matches this season.  The two teams will start their match at 1 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
