The Upper Iowa men's basketball team finished their exhibition season with a 113-77 loss to NCAA Division I Creighton University in front of 15,015 fans at the CenturyLink Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. The Peacocks stuck with the Bluejays for periods of the game, but Creighton took over and stretched its lead late.

Creighton out-Peacocked the Peacocks. Over the first three games of the season, Upper Iowa had outscored opponents 95-44 in bench scoring. On Friday night, however, the Bluejays had 70 of their 113 points scored by players who didn't start, while UIU had 36 bench points.

In the first half, the Peacocks shot the ball extremely well (17-29, 58.6%), but had 15 turnovers and went into halftime down by 15, 52-37.

Upper Iowa hung with their BIG EAST Conference opponent for the first 10 minutes of the second half, matched Creighton point-for-point and trailed by 15 with 11:17 remaining. But over the final 11-plus minutes of the game, the Bluejays pulled away as they outscored the Peacocks 42-21.

Jimmy Roth paced UIU with 19 points. The junior shot 7-of-11 from the floor, including going 6-of-7 in the first half. Redshirt freshman
Dennis Austin III chipped in 12 points and was the only other Peacock in double figures. Fifteen different players saw the floor for Upper Iowa and the scoring was spread among 12 different guys.
Jernell Hughes led UIU with 7 rebounds.

The Peacocks will return to regular season play next weekend when they head to St. Joseph, Missouri for the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic Nov. 13-14. UIU will play No. 14 Northwest Missouri State on Friday night and Missouri Western State on Saturday evening.
