In a battle of teams tied for the final spot into the conference tournament, the Peacocks were a step behind the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul and fell 4-0. Concordia scored two goals in each half, the latter pair coming as a result of counterattacks. The loss moves UIU to 7-8-2 overall and 6-7-1 in conference play, while the Golden Bears improve to 8-8-1 and 7-6-1.
On a cold afternoon, the Golden Bears came out with fire and scored 13:21 into the opening half. Ten minutes later, the Golden Bears added a second goal and took the 2-0 into the halftime break.
The second half saw the Peacocks apply better pressure forward on the Concordia backline, but eight and a half minutes into the latter period the Golden Bears struck again to make it 3-0. UIU continued to battle forward and outshot Concordia in the second half 7-6, but the visitors added a final goal with a penalty kick with just over three minutes remaining.
Upper Iowa will play its final game of the regular season on Sunday in Mankato, Minnesota, against the No. 6 Minnesota State Mavericks.
