The Peacocks women's soccer team earned their fourth shutout win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon. With the win, UIU moved to 7-5-2 on the season and 6-4-1 in NSIC play, while USF fell to 2-11 and 1-10 in conference.
The Peacocks outshot the Cougars 14-0 in the first half, with
Madie Edwards netting her 14th goal of the year, 16 minutes into the opening period.
Brianne Fenton carried the ball through the midfield, passed to a cutting Edwards in the box and she was able to beat the Sioux Falls goalkeeper to the near post, scoring the game's lone goal.
In the second half, Upper Iowa was outshot 10-7, but goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Emanuel made four saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Edwards had a career-high 12 shots in the match, placing 10 on frame. UIU also won the corner kick battle, 7-2.
Upper Iowa will look to carry its momentum into next weekend, when they host Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Oct. 24, and Bemidji State on Sunday, Oct. 25.
