Upper Iowa's volleyball made it two wins in a row and three in their last four matches with a sweep of the Marauders of the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. on Friday night. Â The Peacocks battled through a pair of tight sets to open the match winning by a combined five points, but UIU dominated the third set 25-11 to claim the match and improve to 10-9 overall and 4-6 in the NSIC.
The Marauders took a late 22-18 lead over their guests in the first set, but UIU rallied to tie the match at 24-24 thanks to a 6-2 run fueled by a pair of kills from senior
Jennifer Mundt. Â U-Mary retook a 25-24 lead on a big block, but the Peacocks scratched the scoreboard on the next three serves to claim the 27-25 win.
As the second set wound down, the home team once again took a late lead, 19-16. Â Upper Iowa stormed back though and, thanks to a 5-0 run, took a 21-19 lead over their hosts. Â U-Mary scored three straight and got on top 22-21, but the Peacocks answered the bell with four straight points with freshman

Upper Iowa dominated the third set to win 25-11 thanks to 15 kills and just 4 attack errors. Â The Peacocks hit .333 in the final set, much improved over their first two sets that saw them hit .229 and .000, respectively.
Mundt led all attackers with 17 kills and added 5 digs, while
Malissa LeClaire paced the offense with 21 assists and helped on the back line with 9 digs. Â
Taylor Williams spearheaded the back row with 25 digs, while
Jenna Hermsen tallied 15 assists and 5 digs. Â
Kelsey Hinrichs and
Lauren Wombles both recorded 8 kills with Hinrichs adding 13 digs.
The Peacocks will be back at it tomorrow looking to make it three straight in NSIC action. Â Upper Iowa will face the Beavers of Minot State University on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
