THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK BASEBALL...  The Peacocks continue their homestand on Wednesday afternoon and will welcome the #4 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato.  MSU comes into the double header with a six-game winning streak, while UIU is coming off a split with Bemidji State after eight straight home games were cancelled.  The game times for the double dip were moved up an hour for a noon start due to weather predictions for Wednesday afternoon.  The Mavericks are ranked #4 by the College Baseball News, while the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association moved the team up a spot to #3 this week.

LAST WEEK FOR THE MAVERICKS... Minnesota State (19-4) stretched its winning streak to six games with a four-game sweep of visiting Minnesota Duluth in a Sunday-Monday series played at the Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston, Wis. Stetson Olson factored on over a third of MSU's 22 runs this past weekend versus UMD going 4-of-13 (.308) with a pair of home runs and four runs scored along with a team-high six RBI and 10 total bases for a .769 slugging percentage.  Olson leads the Mavericks in home runs (4), RBI (20), runs (24), total bases (43), on-base percentage (.464) and slugging percentage (.544) this season while ranking second in the NSIC in home runs, fifth in runs, sixth in RBI and eighth in total bases.

HITTER'S COUNT... The Peacock offense has had a solid start to the season posting a team batting average of .309, which ranks 37th nationally and 3rd in the NSIC.  The team's on-base percentage is an even more impressive .409, which is 22nd-best in the nation and 3rd in the conference.  UIU's slugging percentage of .420 is ranked 48th nationally and 4th highest in the Northern Sun.

FIT TO BE "TY"-ED...  Senior center fielder Tyler Adams has led the Peacocks through the opening 15 games with a .552 batting average.  The lefty's average is tops among all NCAA Division II hitters.  Adams has collected 32 hits already this season while slugging .810 thanks to five doubles, a pair of triples and two homeruns.  The slugging percentage is ranked 3rd nationally and 1st in the NSIC.  Adams is also ranked 2nd nationally in on-base percentage (.591, behind his teammate Jose Aguirre) and 26th in runs per game (1.20).  UIU's three-year starting centerfielder carries a .413 career batting average heading into the twinbill with 182hits over his three-plus seasons with UIU.

THE TIJUANA TERROR... Senior Jose Aguirre has been denying pitchers their rights to get him out over the first 15 games of the season.  Aguirre, who splits time between roles as the Peacock catcher and designated hitter, has the 2nd best batting average in the nation at .514 behind his teammate Adams, NCAA Division II's best on-base percentage (.633) and the nation's 8th highest slugging percentage (.771).  Aguirre's hot start also has him ranked nationally in bases on balls per game (11th).
