THIS WEEKEND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL... The Peacocks will stay on the road this week as they return to NSIC-South competition. First on Friday, UIU will face the Wolves of Wayne State College (8-12, 5-11 NSIC) at 8 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Peacocks will square off with the Augustana Vikings (13-9, 10-6 NSIC) at 6 p.m.

THE SERIES... Over the past seven seasons, the Peacocks and Vikings have squared off a total of ten times, with Augie taking seven of those contests. That includes a 79-65 win in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament - Upper Iowa's first berth in the tournament all-time. On the other hand, Wayne State is 6-4 against the Peacocks since the 2007-08 season, despite a UIU victory in each of the last three seasons. Last year, the Peacocks defeated the Wildcats 77-56 at home, but fell to WSC, 62-60, on a last-second shot in Wayne, Nebraska by Amry Shelby – WSC's Graduate Assistant Coach this season.

FAMILIAR FOE… Shelby won't be the only recognizable face on the WSC sideline on Friday night. Former Peacock coach Brian Dolan now leads the Wildcat program. Dolan compiled a 67-127 record as the helm of the UIU program over the past seven seasons.

LEADING THE WILDCATS... Adol Aluong (12.6 ppg, 44% FG, 3.7 rpg, 2 apg), Ty Bauschek (12.2 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.1 apg, .8 spg), Ryan Rolfzen (9.9 ppg, 40% FG, 3.9 rpg, .5 bpg), Jared Bartling (8.2 ppg, 53% FG, 4.4 rpg, .9 apg, .4 spg)

LEADING THE VIKINGS... Casey Schilling (18.9 ppg, 50% FG, 8.6 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2 spg, 1.1 bpg), Daniel Jansen (16.4 ppg, 50% FG, 5.5 rpg, 1 apg, .5 bpg), Matthew Brazendale (8.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.6 apg), Yuriy Malashenko (7.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, .9 apg)

NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK... The NSIC named Joey Woods as NSIC Player of the Week after his performances last weekend. The honor is the tenth award for UIU this year, but the first for a men's basketball player. Woods averaged 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this past weekend as he led the Peacocks to a pair of NSIC victories on the road. Woods set a new career-high in points with 40 on Friday night against MSUM; he also set the new NSIC high this season as UIU pulled off a 109-107 victory in overtime. Woods connected on 13 of his 22 shots on Friday while adding a season-high 13 made free throws in 15 attempts. The senior's previous career-high (26) came earlier this year against U-Mary on Jan. 11. On Saturday night against Northern State, Woods cemented his memorable weekend by scoring a game-high 24 points on 8 of 14 shooting and adding 5 assists, 4 rebounds, a block and a steal.

FIRE "LANG" – NO PARKING... Junior wing Grant Lang started to heat up this past weekend for the Peacocks. The Ankeny, Iowa native averaged 20 points per game as he posted nearly identical lines. Lang totaled a .545 shooting clip from the floor hitting 6-of-11 shots (5-of-8 from beyond the arc) both nights.

PEACOCK SNAP TWO-GAME SKID; EARN WEEKEND SWEEP... Led by Joey Woods' phenomenal play, the Peacocks earned their first weekend sweep of the season. The redshirt-senior averaged 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as UIU upset MSU Moorhead, 109-107, in overtime before the Peacocks defeated Northern State, 76-70, on Saturday night.  Woods finished the weekend with 64 points thanks to 58% shooting (21-36) from the floor including a pair of triples. Grant Lang also had a big weekend averaging 20 points per game; he chipped in five rebounds and two assists, while shooting 62% (10-16) from beyond the arc. His ten three's tied a season-high for most triples in a weekend (10) as the Peacocks earned two big wins over NSIC-North opponents.
