Opening Round Game - NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament
Fayette, IA || Dorman Gym || 7 p.m.

THIS WEEKEND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL... For the second straight year, the Peacocks wrapped up the fourth seed in the NSIC-South and will host an opening round playoff game as they take on the fifth seed in the NSIC-North - the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth (12-14, 10-12 NSIC). UMD will head to Fayette for a 7 p.m. tip-off against UIU on Wednesday night inside Dorman Gym. The Peacocks enter the matchup having won 7 of their last 8 and 6 of 8 against the NSIC-North this year. UIU made it to the semifinals in last year's NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament.

LEADING THE BULLDOGS... Jordan Reetz (17.9 ppg, 41% 3FG, 4 rpg, 1.8 apg), Reece Zoelle (15.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, .7 spg), Peter Crawford (15.3 ppg, 51% FG, 4 rpg, 2.4 apg, .8 spg), Junior Coleman (8.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, .7 spg)

THE SERIES... When these two teams met on Feb. 14th, the Peacocks were riding a 4-game win streak. UIU and UMD exchanged the lead 13 times and were tied 10 different times before the Peacocks sealed the 87-85 victory in Fayette. That win gives UIU a slight 5-4 advantage in the series which dates back to the 2008-09 season.  Despite that victory though, Upper Iowa is still just 2-3 against UMD inside Dorman Gym. Both teams will enter the game on a two-game win streak. The Bulldogs most recently defeated BSU and UMC, while the Peacocks swept Augie and Wayne State.

"WOODS" YOU LIKE SOME MORE?  Redshirt-senior Joey Woods scored a team-high 25 points in the Peacocks win over Augie last Friday. He added 7 assists and 6 rebounds to his stat line capping a solid night. The Naples, Florida native is averaging a team-high 17.3 ppg - 6th best in the NSIC - while distributing 4.5 assists per contest - second-best in the league.

"WEEB" BELIEVE... After falling behind early in the extra period, freshman post Josh Weeber found his rhythm from beyond the arc. The Dubuque, Iowa native hit three of his game-high six three-pointers in OT. Weeber let his final trifecta fly from the top of the arc and hit nothing but net to put the Peacocks out in front for good as the home team sealed the 104-100 victory. His six three-pointers against the Vikings ties a season-high, while his 10 treys over the weekend ties a team-high in back-to-back games. In all, Weeber shot a red-hot 62-percent from deep. The rookie is now ranked 22nd in the league thanks to his 13 ppg average.

"GRANT"-IN-AID SCHOLARSHIP... There's no doubt junior wing Grant Lang has provided a little aid from beyond the arc for UIU this season. Lang is averaging 12.8 ppg (24th in NSIC), while hitting 44-percent of his triples (7th in NSIC). The junior wing is also ranked second in the conference in three-point field goals made with 72, trailing only Skye Warwick of Northern State who has 79.

LAST WEEK...
For the Bulldogs... UMD closed out the regular season with a pair of wins at Romano Gym, finishing the regular season with four more wins than a year ago and four more conference wins, as well. The Bulldogs will look to extend their season against Upper Iowa in the opening round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament in a rematch from just 10 days ago when the Peacocks edged UMD 87-85 in Fayette. Senior guard Jordan Reetz willed the Bulldogs to 81-65 upset victory over Bemidji State on Friday night with a 35-point effort and added 16 points in a dominant 84-54 revenge win over MInnesota Crookston on Saturday, picking up fellow senior Peter Crawford who was limited to just 3 points on the night. Reetz shot 61.8 percent (21-of-34), including 7-of-12 from beyond the arc. He hauled in seven rebounds and had three assists, three steals, and a block on the weekend. Junior guard Reece Zoelle posted a pair of 20-point games for UMD, hauling in a team-high 14 rebounds while going 6-of-9 from three-point range. Freshman guard Treyton Daniels had his season's best game with nine points against Minnesota Crookston, while freshman Jake Wilson had another strong game off the bench with eight points against the Golden Eagles. As a squad, UMD shot 53.9 percent for the weekend.
