THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK BASKETBALL... The Upper Iowa women's basketball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 2-2 record thanks to an important in-region win at home last Tuesday, Nov. 25, over UW-Parkside.  The Peacocks enter the NSIC slate with three straight games on the road.  The trip begins at Winona State University on Saturday, Nov. 29, and continues at the University of Sioux Falls on Dec. 5 and Southwest Minnesota State University on Dec. 6.  UIU's contest with the Warriors on Saturday will tip at 4 p.m. in Winona, Minn.  Live stats and live video are available for the game at Winona State and links can be found on UpperIowaAthletics.com/Coverage.aspx.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS...  Winona State comes into the first weekend of Northern Sun Conference competition with a perfect 4-0 record after a non-conference schedule filled with non-Division II teams.  Tara Roelofs leads the team with a 12.3 point/game average while handing out 4 assists/game.  Kayla Timmerman is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.  The team is shooting 47.8% from the floor including a 46.6% from beyond the arc.  Winona State is averaging 81.3 points/game while holding their opponents to just 46.5 points through the first four games.

RALLY OVER THE RANGERS... The Peacocks came out and made a statement early on Tuesday night on defense. Upper Iowa held the undefeated Rangers of the UW-Parkside to just five points over the first five and a half minutes, while working hard on the offensive end for three early buckets in the paint. The Ranger defense also played well limiting UIU's opportunities to lead by five, 47-42, midway through the second half.  Upper Iowa rallied thanks to a 12-3 run that spanned nearly eight minutes of gametime. The Peacocks took a four-point lead, 54-50, with 1:55 on the clock when Lindsay Carroll found her way to the hole for a lay-in.  UIU still led 56-52, with 19 seconds to play, but a quick jumper from the Rangers cut the lead back to two. One Peacock free throw later, the home team was back up three with 11 seconds to play giving the visitors one last attempt at overtime. UWP's final three was blocked by Sarah Benson, who came down with it and then set the final margin at five, 59-54, with a pair of freebies with one tick on the clock.

LIVE ON THE AIR… After a successful fall partnership between the Upper Iowa University Athletics Department and KCRG-TV9, the Peacocks are proud to announce that all this winter's home sporting events will be shown live on KCRG 9.2 and KCRG 9.3 out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The Northern Sun Experience show that has also run on KCRG 9.2 will continue to be shown as well.  KCRG-TV9 is an ABC affiliate that covers all of Eastern Iowa.  Each game will be broadcast by a crew made up of Upper Iowa students from camera operators to board operators, as well as play-by-play and color commentators that work through the Athletics Department.
