Box Score The Peacocks scored the final two goals of the game to beat the Crimson Storm 3-1 in Fayette.
After a scoreless first half, the Peacocks jumped out to an early one goal lead on a
Troy Ewers header at 49:57.
Rhys Williams sent a cross in from a corner kick and Ewers rose up and got a head on the ball for his third goal of the year.
The Crimson Storm tied the game at 1-1 ten minutes later. Mitchell Johnson took a free kick from 25-yards out and put it past the Peacock wall and into the side net.
The tie, however, wouldn't last long. In the 72nd minute,
Hugo Alves sent a ball over the Crimson Storm defenders and
Jared Newman ran onto it in the SNU penalty box. Newman then shot around the charging SNU goalkeeper and put the Peacocks in the lead, 2-1.
UIU put the game out of reach with five minutes left when
Ryan Pinkerton put a cross into the box and
Aaron Calkins buried a shot from inside the six-yard box to close out the scoring at 3-1, Peacocks.
Upper Iowa outshot the Crimson Storm 34-12, putting 13 shots on goal compared to just three for SNU.
Leandro Pena led UIU with six shots, while Calkins had five and Newman took four.
Connor Rortvedt made two saves in goal.
Upper Iowa will hit the road next week, taking on the University of Illinois Springfield on Wednesday and then heading to Bolivar, Missouri to play Southwest Baptist in MIAA play on Saturday.
