This week in Peacock men's soccer… Upper Iowa (6-5-1) returns home for a pair of MIAA conference matches after a three-week road trip. The week begins with a battle against the Lindenwood Lions on Thursday at 2 p.m. and ends with a game against the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm on Saturday at 12 p.m.

The Lions of Lindenwood University are 6-4-3 this season, with three of their four losses coming against nationally ranked opponents. Upper Iowa lost 2-1 in overtime to Lindenwood in St. Charles. Mo., earlier this season, and is 0-5-1 all-time against the Lions. The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm are 3-9 in 2014 and have dropped four of their last five matches. The Peacocks beat SNU 2-1 in Bethany, Okla., on Oct. 4. UIU is 3-0 against the Crimson Storm since joining the MIAA prior to the 2012 season.

Going, Going, Back, Back, to Cali, Cali... Sophomore forward Ryan Pinkerton scored a pair of goals last week to raise his season total to five. He leads the team in goals and points (12), and is tied for fourth with two assists. Last season Pinkerton finished tied for second on the team in points with 13, scored four goals and tied for the team lead with five assists.

Points from Behind the Front Line... Junior midfielders Rafael Pedroso, Greg Marshall and Rhys Williams are tied for the Peacock lead in assists with three each, while Marshall and Williams have each added two goals a piece. Junior defenders Troy Ewers and Sebastian Smith are also adding to the scoring, as Ewers has two goals this season and Smith has knocked in one.

First Half Goals... UIU has outscored their opponents in the first half this season 12-5. In games in which the Peacocks have scored first in the first half, Upper Iowa is 4-2.

Last week for the Lions Lindenwood came home with a win and a tie on the road. Last week started with a 1-1 tie at Harding in which Lions scored midway through the first half, but surrendered a late goal and neither team could break the tie in regulation or overtime. Then LU traveled to take on Southwest Baptist, beating the Bearcats, 1-0. The Lions finally broke the 0-0 tie in the 82nd minute, keeping SBU winless on the year.

Last week for the Crimson Storm Southern Nazarene split a pair of road conference matches, starting with a win over Southwest Baptist before losing to Fort Hays State. In the win over SBU, the Crimson Storm used three first half goals to propel themselves to a 4-3 victory. In the loss to Fort Hays State, SNU fell down 3-0 early, battled back to a 4-2 deficit early in the second half, but would give up four more goals and lose 8-3.
