This week in Peacock men's soccer… Upper Iowa (4-3-1) continues its stretch of games away from Fayette, beginning with a conference match at Harding University on Thursday at 5 p.m., before wrapping up the week in Bethany, Oklahoma, for an MIAA match with Southern Nazarene.

The Bison of Harding University are 2-3-1 coming into the week, sitting in a tie for second in conference play at 2-1. UIU is 1-1 against Harding since joining the MIAA, with the win coming last season, in ovetime, 4-3. The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm are 2-6 so far this year and are currently tied with Upper Iowa for fifth at 1-2 in conference. The Peaocks hold a 2-0 all-time record against the Crimson Storm, beating SNU 3-2 in overtime in last year.

A Balanced Attack... The Peacocks have found offense from a variety of sources through eight games in 2014. Five Peacocks have tallied at least one goal and one assist to this point in the season, led by Ryan Pinkerton's eight points with his three goals and two assists. Greg Marshall has two goals and leads the team with three assists, while Rhys Williams has two goals and two assists. Finally, Aaron Calkins and Jared Newman have a goal and an assist each.

Overtime Unkind... The Peacocks have played in three overtime games already this season, compiling a 0-2-1 record in those games. Most recently, the Peacocks have dropped back-to-back conference games that went to the extra period, first a 3-2 loss to Northeastern State, followed by a 2-1 loss to Lindenwood. The only non-loss in overtime for the Peacocks this year came in a 2-2 tie against Montana State-Billings. In 2013, the Peacocks were 2-0-2 in overtime games, with victories over Harding and Southern Nazarene and ties against Lindenwood and Southwest Baptist.

Johnny Futbol... Freshman midfielder Johnny McBeth leads all MIAA players in shots per game (4.33), points (8), points per game (2.67), goals (4) and goals per game (1.33) in conference play. McBeth had a hat-trick against Southwest Baptist and followed that performance with a goal against Northeastern State.

Last week for the Bison Harding started last week with a 6-1 victory over Southwest Baptist. The goals were scored by five different players and set a new school record for goals in a game. Harding then dropped its first conference game of the year to then-No. 16 Northeastern State, 4-0. Northeastern State scored 100 seconds into the game and never looked back.

Last week for the Crimson Storm Southern Nazarene played just one match last week, falling to then-No. 16 Northeastern State, 2-1. The Crimson Storm tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the second half, but Northeastern State took the lead for good with a goal in the 70th minute.
