Recap

The Peacock men's soccer team improved to 3-0 in Fayette on Pattison Field with an impressive 4-0 victory over Viterbo University. Upper Iowa bounced back after a loss on Tuesday to improve their record to 3-2 on the season.

Despite being outshot 18-13 in the match, the Peacocks made the most of their strikes converting four of their five shots on goal into scores. Andres Cuesta took a loose ball near the six-yard line after a corner kick was mishandled by the V-Hawk keeper. Cuesta dribbled to his left and fired through a pair of Viterbo defenders to find the back of the net and give UIU a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

Just one minute later, the Peacocks added a second goal when Ryan Pinkerton found Rafael Pedroso during a transition into the open field. Pinkerton's cross found Pedroso's foot and the sophomore rocketed a ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.

Cuesta added a second goal on the day, his fourth of the season, in the 31st minute. UIU converted on another corner kick as Fausto Ordenana sent the ball in and it found Cuesta like a magnet. Cuesta once again pushed it past the Viterbo goalline for a 3-0 lead.

The Viterbo attack was more persistent in the second half, but Upper Iowa's defense was up to the challenge as they didn't allow many solid scoring opportunities to their guests. UIU notched their final goal of the day in the 74th minute when Jared Newman took the ball in transition and carried it a long way down the field. Newman buried the ball into the net past the goalie from 10 yards out to set the final score at 4-0.

Jordan Bell earned the win in goal for UIU making 2 saves in his 69 minutes, while Andy Rieckhoff made 4 saves in his 21 minutes of action in relief.
