THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK SOCCER… Upper Iowa (2-2) opened their week of action on the road with a 2-1 loss to St. Ambrose which dropped their record to 2-2 overall. The Peacocks have two more non-conference games before opening their MIAA season next Friday afternoon in Fayette. On Thursday, UIU will face the V-Hawks of Viterbo University at 4 p.m on Pattison Field. Viterbo comes in with a 1-6 mark thus far.
SERIES HISTORY... The Peacocks have met with Viterbo five times since 2006. After UIU evened the series at two games apiece with a 2-0 victory in 2011, the V-Hawks claimed a 2-1 win last season to go ahead 3-2 in the all-time series.
"PINK" SLIP… Through the team's first four matches, freshman Ryan Pinkerton is leading the club in points with 5 thanks to a goal and three assists. The Apple Valley, Calif. native has taken 14 shots and placed 6 of them on frame. His three assists are currently a team high, while he is one of nine Peacock players to push the ball to the back of the net.
THE COLUMBIAN KID… Sophomore Andres Cuesta hails from Bogota, Columbia and is second on the team in points with four thanks to a pair of goals this season. He is making the most of his shot attempts as four of his eight shots have been on goal.
BENCH SUPPORT… Dan Rasmussen is tied with Cuesta in points for UIU early on in his senior season. Rasmussen also has two goals, which both came against NIACC last Wednesday. Three of the Maplewood, Minn. product's five shots have been on the frame.
MIAA OPENING… The Peacocks will open their MIAA schedule next Friday and Sunday at home. On Friday, UIU will host Southwest Baptist University. On Sunday, Upper Iowa will welcome Lindenwood University to Pattison Field. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
