UIU Volleyball Continues Season at UW-Parkside Tournament

This Weekend in Peacock Volleyball… Upper Iowa (2-2) travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin to compete in the UW-Parkside Tournament. The Peacocks will face off against the #19 Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis and the Flyers of Lewis University on Friday at noon and 4 p.m. The team will then return to the courts to battle the Golden Knights of Gannon University and the Rangers of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday at noon and 5 p.m.

Feeling Defensive… The Peacock defense was up to the challenge last weekend at the Winona State Tournament. UIU is currently 4th in the NSIC in blocks/set (2.07) and 7th in digs/set (16.07). Leading the back line defense is junior Amanda Weiss, who has a team-high 65 digs as the libero and is currently 9th in the conference in digs/set (4.33).

Jumping "Jennifer"… Sophomore Jennifer Mundt was named to the Winona State All-Tournament Team thanks to her 70 kills this past weekend. The Peacock outside hitter is 2nd in the NSIC in total kills and points/set (5.34).

Freshman Impact… Three Peacock freshman have made an instant impact on the floor this season. Alisha VanderWoude is starting as a middle blocker and has posted 15 kills and 12 blocks. Chelsea Berry is starting as an outside hitter and has racked up 42 kills and 54 digs while dropping in 4 service aces and 5 blocks. Kelsey Hinrichs is coming off the bench to provide depth to the back line with 28 digs.

"Hail" Storm… Junior Hailey Brown has been doing a bit of everything for UIU. As a setter and outside hitter, Brown has 19 kills, 122 assists, 26 digs, 5 service aces and 4 blocks.
