Peacocks Take Down Golden Eagles in Clearwater

Upper Iowa snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominating performance against the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota, Crookston to open their final day at the Winning Inning Clearwater Invitational.  The Peacocks improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 against UMC with a 14-1 victory in their first game of the day.
 
Eric Anderson collected the win for Upper Iowa and improved to 3-0 on the season.  Anderson threw seven innings allowing just four hits and no runs while striking out 10 Golden Eagles.  Jordan Kearns came in to relieve the Peacock starter and went two innings allowing one run on four hits and striking out a pair.
 
Upper Iowa scored a run in each of the first three innings thanks to a sac flis by Andrew Kraus and Ryan Citro and an rbi-double off the bat of Mikey Henrichs
 
The Peacocks put the contest out of reach in the fifth and sixth inning racking up five runs in the fifth and adding four more in the sixth.  Kraus earned an rbi in the fourth along with John Dobson, both players had run-scoring hits.  William Loza came  up with a big two-run single in the fifth and followed it up with a sac fly in the sixth.  UIU’s leadoff hitter, Tyler Adams, highlighted the sixth inning’s scoring with a two-run single of his own.  When the dust settled on the middle innings, Upper Iowa had pushed out to a 12-0 lead heading to the seventh.
 
After the Golden Eagles marked the scoreboard with a run in the eighth, the Peacocks answered back with their final runs of the game.  Jimmy Pinakidis singled to center to drive in a run and Henrichs singled to the shortstop to plate UIU’s final run of the game.
 
Henrichs led UIU at the plate with 4 hits in 5 at bats and added a pair of rbi’s and a run scored.  Adams and Dobson each had three hits in the game, while Corbitt, Kraus and Citro all had two hits apiece.  Loza’s three runs batted in led the team; although, three other players each plated a pair of Peacocks.
