Peacock Volleyball Returns for Homecoming Weekend

Upper Iowa will host Minnesota, Crookston on Friday night and Bemidji State on Saturday evening.

The Weeken's Matches...  Upper Iowa will line up against the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota, Crookston on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then welcome the Beavers of Bemidji State University on Saturday at 5 p.m.  The Peacocks have won their last two NSIC matches, while the Golden Eagles have lost their last two matches after starting 3-0 in the conference.  The Beavers won their opening NSIC match, but have dropped four straight and face Winona State on Friday night.
 
Ranked in the NSIC... Senior Kayla Wagner is ranked in the top ten of two categories in the Northern Sun.  The Peacock middle is seventh in blocks/set with 1.1 and tenth in hitting percentage with a .337 average.  Junior Melanie Behnke sits in fourth among the NSIC’s best attackers with 3.95 kills/set, while Amanda ranks eighth in digs with 4 per set.
 
Leading the Peacocks... On offense, the Peacocks are led by the trio of Behnke, Wagner and Jennifer Mundt.  Behnke leads the team in kills with 208, while Wagner has added 116.  Mundt, a freshman hitter, has come in off the bench this season to record 173 kills.  Setting the Peacock attack are setters Skylar Lesan and Hailey Brown, who have posted 389 and 212 assists, respectively.  Weiss and Danielle Gernes lead the back row with 231 and 183 digs, respectively.  Wagner, Hailey Brown and Maryn Fulton have combined for 139 blocks this year.
 
Looking at the Golden Eagles... Minnesota, Crookston is 7-5 on the year with a 3-2 mark in the NSIC.  The team is led by Brittany Looker on offense with 114 kills, while Paige Mitchell and Lindsey Rees set up the UMC attack with a combined 353 assists.  Chelsea Wiesner rallies the defense with 178 digs.
 
Looking at the Beavers... Bemidji State is 3-9 on the season with a 1-4 record in the conference.  The team is led by Bethany Thompson on offense with 169 kills, while Courtney Volkmann has dished out 383 assists to pace the attack.  Elissa Christensen has tallied 139 digs to protect the Bemidji back line.
