A goal by the V-Hawks of Viterbo in the 68th minute broke a 1-1 tie and put the home team ahead of Upper Iowa for good. With the 2-1 decision, Viterbo earned their first win of the season (1-4), while UIU fell to 1-3.
Viterbo controlled the first half tallying 7 shots while Upper Iowa only took a pair of opportunities. The V-Hawks were the first on the board with a score in the 30th minute. Jonathan Locast netted the strike on an assist from Sam Renstrom.
In the second half, Upper Iowa was more aggressive and outshot their hosts 5-3.
Rhys Williams drove a ball into the back of the net in the 51st minute thanks to an assist by
Dan Rasmussen.
The game remained tied until the 68th minute when Tye Kreutzfeldt pushed the ball over the goalline on an assist from Locast to put the home team ahead 2-1.
In the end, Viterbo claimed a 10-7 advantage in shots in the physical game. Six yellow cards and a red card were handed out in the match although a total of only 11 fouls were called.

Upper Iowa will return to Pattison Field in Fayette for a pair of matches this weekend. The Peacocks will face the Bulldogs of Truman State on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Tigers of Marshalltown on Sunday at 3 p.m.
