This Weekend in Peacock Baseball... Upper Iowa earned a split at Winona State University on Tuesday and will return to the diamond sooner than expected.  The Peacocks will meet the Beavers of Bemidji State University on Thursday to open their four-game series.  The Northern Sun Conference games originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been pushed up a day to avoid a cold and wet forecast on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn.

The Peacocks are 5-5 in the Northern Sun Conference and have the opportunity to improve on that mark with four NSIC games this weekend. The Beavers are 12-10 overall and 5-3 in conference action.

Last time the Peacocks and Beavers met… Bemidji State took the three games of last year’s series in Fayette. The Beavers won the games by scores of 1-0 and 3-2 in 11 innings on day one and 7-2 in game one on day two. Upper Iowa held on to an early lead in the final game to post a 13-9 win in the finale. The Beavers held the Peacock offense down for the first three games, but the UIU bats came alive for 21 hits in the final game of the series in support of Fabian Lopez.

On Deck... The Peacocks will remain on the road next week with a Wednesday double header at Concordia University, St. Paul and a Saturday-Sunday, four-game series at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Upper Iowa returns to Fayette for action on Apr. 21 and 22 against Northern State University.
