This Week in Peacock Baseball...  Upper Iowa visits Quincy University on Wednesday for a non-conference double header before opening their home schedule at Robertson Woods Field this Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 24 and 25.  The double header against the Hawks will be two seven-inning games, while the four-game series with the Golden Eagles will feature a seven-inning game and then a nine-inning game to follow each day.
 
Fayette’s Weather Outlook for the weekend…  Saturday: Occasional showers possible.  Highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 40s.  Wind from the North at 9 mph.  Sunday: Partly Cloudy.  Times of sun and clouds.  Highs in the low 70s and lows in the 50s.  Wind from the North-Northeast at 6 mph.
 
Last time the Peacocks and Hawks met…  The Peacocks got on board first in the bottom of the second after a leadoff double down the left field line. Matt Corbitt pushed the runner home with a sac fly to right field for a 1-0 UIU lead.  Quincy bounced back with a run in the third and one in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead; both runs scored on sacrifice flies. Quincy maintained their one-run lead until the eighth inning when they pushed two more runs across and then added three more in the ninth on a three-run homer to left by Mitchell Broughton. Upper Iowa stranded nine runners on the base paths.
 
Last time the Peacocks and Golden Eagles met... UIU scored 36 runs on 32 hits in the team’s last doubleheader meeting as the Peacocks completed a four-game sweep of the Golden Eagles in Fayette.  UIU took the first half of the NSIC twin bill, 13-3, before winning game two, 23-11, in a run shortened game.
 
On the Horizon... Next Wednesday, Mar. 28, the Peacocks will head to Romeoville, Illinois to face the Flyers of Lewis University in a non-conference double header beginning at 12 p.m.  Upper Iowa returns to Fayette and Robertson Woods Field on Saturday, Mar. 31, and Sunday, Apr. 1.  UIU will host the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University in a four-game, NSIC series.
