Winona State backed up their #3 national ranking with a commanding performance at home against the Peacocks.  The Warriors posted an 86-58 victory fueled by their 12 three-pointers in front of a crowd of more than 2,200 fans.  After the loss, UIU falls to 7-15 on the season and 4-14 in the NSIC.

The two teams matched each other point for point through the first five minutes, 10-10.  Winona  used a 16-4 run over the next six minutes as Upper Iowa turned the ball over three times during that span.  The Warriors continued to hit on all cylinders pushing their lead to 16, 40-24, at the halftime break.     

Bo Pagel led UIU in the first half with 8 points and 3 rebounds, while the home team was led by Joel Armstrong and Taylor Cameron, who each scored 9 points.

Upper Iowa was unable to cut the margin under 16 in the second half as the home team dialed in their long-range shooting.  The Warriros hit their largest lead, 30 points, in the final minutes of the half and claimed the victory, 86-58.

Winona State shot 42.9% from behind the three-point line converting 12 of their 28 attempts, while Upper Iowa only hit 3 of their 13 shots from beyond the arc.

NEXT UP FOR THE PEACOCKS...

The Peacocks will return home for their final games in Fayette this season.  Upper Iowa will host the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Crookston on Friday and the Dragons of MSU Moorhead on Saturday.  Both games are scheduled to start at approximately 8 p.m. following the women's games.
