Upper Iowa matched the #20 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato in a very tight first set, but the home team edged the Peacocks for a three-point win and then proved their national ranking in sets two and three en route to a sweep.  With the loss, UIU falls to 15-11 overall and 9-8 in the NSIC, while MSU improves to 17-6 overall and 11-6 in the conference.

After the loss, the Peacocks are in ninth place one game behind Northern State and Winona State, who are tied for seventh in the NSIC.

The Peacocks and Mavericks battled back and forth in the first set and neither team took a lead of more than two points until the final point of the set.  After UIU tied the match at 20-20 on a kill by Jennifer Mundt, the Mavericks scored five of the final seven points to claim a 25-22 win.

The second set started much the same way as the first with both teams fighting hard to establish a lead, but after a 13-13 tie, MSU took off on a 12-4 run to post a 25-17 win and take a 2-0 lead to the locker room.

In the final set, the Mavericks raced out to a 12-6 lead en route to a 25-14 win.  The Peacocks made one run midway through the set to pull within three, 14-11.  The run was highlighted by a pair of kills from Maryn Fulton, but MSU put the match away with an 11-3 run to close play.

Hailey Brown led the offense with 7 kills, while Mundt added 6.  Skylar Lesan dished out 25 assists on the day, while Danielle Gernes posted 8 digs.

Minnesota State played large at the net claiming an 11-5 advantage at the net in blocks for the night.

The Peacocks will return to Fayette for a Saturday evening match up with the #2 Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.  The volleyball team is encouraging all fans to wear white and WHITE OUT Dorman Gym for the match.
