The Golden Bears dominated the first and third quarters scoring all of their points on the way to a 35-6 NSIC victory over the Peacocks. Concordia forced nine turnovers on their 2012 Homecoming game including four on fumbles, three on downs and a pair of interceptions. After the loss, Upper Iowa falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC South, while Concordia improves to 2-4 and 1-1 in the division.
Concordia combined a pair of long runs with poor tackling by Upper Iowa in the first half to jump out to an early lead. Ronald Zollicoffer scored on a 34-yard run and Jason White added a 64-yard sprint out of a pile of possible tacklers to give the home team a 14-0 lead less than four minutes into the game.
The Peacock defense began to dig in and held the Golden Bears scoreless for the remainder of the half, but Upper Iowa's offense struggled to string first downs together.
UIU finally got on the board in the final minute of the first half scoring on a fourth down in the redzone.

After the point after try was blocked, the Peacocks forced a fumble on the kickoff and had the opportunity to drive one final time prior to halftime.

The Golden Bears put the game away in the third quarter with touchdowns on their first three possessions including a pair of scoring passes from quarterback James Peterson.
UIU's offense came up empty in the second half with only 134 yards of total offense as the Golden Bears controlled both sides of the ball.
Jaeschke threw for 191 yards and a score on 15 completions, while
Chris Smith led the rushing attack with 69 yards on 20 attempts.
Shay Gutman pulled in four passes for 43 yards, while Hosch added three catches for 53 yards and Giesking grabbed three for 44 yards and a score.
UIU's trio of linebackers led the defense with double digit tackles;
Tony Leggett made a team-high 15 stops, while
Ethan Douglas and
Jeff Arends registered 13 and 12 tackles, respectively.
Next weekend, Upper Iowa will host the Vikings of Augustana College at Harms-Eischeid Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m.
