The Peacocks took on the #2 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. this evening and the host Mustangs controlled the match winning in straight sets.  UIU drops to 10-7 overall and 4-4 in the NSIC following the loss, while SMSU improves to 15-1 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Upper Iowa could not handle the hitters of SMSU as the home team hit .441 with 55 of their 75 points coming on kills.  The Peacocks hit .133 on the night with only 24 kills in three sets. 

Southwest Minnesota State rolled to dominating set wins on the night by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-17.

Melanie Behnke led the Peacock hitters with 10 kills and hit .280 on the night.  Skylar Lesan returned to the lineup and picked up 16 assists, while Amanda Weiss recorded 10 digs.  For the first time this season, Upper Iowa did not post a block in the entire match.

Upper Iowa will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon with a match against the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D.   The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
