Peacock Fall Sports on the Road this Weekend

Volleyball
After a 4-1 start to the season, the Peacocks will travel to the University of Minnesota Duluth this weekend for the UMD Tournament.  The Peacocks will face the #7 Bulldogs of UMD and California University of Pennsylvania at 1 and 5 p.m., respectively on Friday.  Upper Iowa will return to the courts on Saturday to face #18 Rollins at 9 a.m. and Bemidji State at 3 p.m.

Women’s Soccer
The Peacock women’s soccer team (0-2) will look to post their first win of the 2011 campaign when they travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa to face a former Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe.  Upper Iowa will match up with the Rams of Cornell College at noon on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
The Upper Iowa men’s soccer team (0-2-1) will look to secure their first win of the young season after returning from Colorado.  The Peacock men will join the women’s team in Mount Vernon, Iowa against the Rams of Cornell College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Tennis
The Peacock tennis team will return to the courts for an individual tournament this weekend at St. Catherine University.  Upper Iowa players will face individuals from St. Kate's, fellow NSIC member Augustana and Macalester in Lakeville, Minn.  The tournament will begin at 8 a.m and run all day.
 
Men’s Golf
The UIU men’s golf team led by returning NCAA Regional Qualifier Jon Anderson will be back on the course for the first time this year under the tutelage of Mike Lewis, first-year head coach.  The Peacocks will tee it up in the Cropper Golf Classic at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  The tournament is being hosted by Mt. Mercy College.
 
Women’s Golf
The Peacock women’s team will also return to the course, but not till after the weekend.  McKenzie Holthaus, a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier, will return for her senior season with a new head coach, Mike Lewis.  The Peacocks will travel to Bolivar, Mo. to compete in the Drury Shootout at the Silo Ridge Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12-13.  The tournament is hosted by Drury University.
