The Peacocks staked their clame to Pattison Field again today with a 2-0 victory over the visiting Hawks of Viterbo University. UIU remains undefeated (4-0) at home this season and improves to 5-3-1 on the year.
Upper Iowa didn't spend much time on offense in the first half, but they made their time count.
Derek Oelmann finished off his fifth and sixth goals of the year as the Peacocks transitioned quickly over midfield. The first goal came in the twentieth minute when
Marco Garcia found Oelmann streaking toward goal. Oelmann slid a shot past the Hawk keeper. The second goal came on a rocket off the foot of Oelmann from 25 yards away;
Zach Castor assisted on the score on a give and go with Oelmann.
The two goals proved to be more than enough for the Peacocks defense and goaltender
Andrew Youde. Youde made four strong saves to earn his fourth straight shutout win.
The Peacocks will head on the road South to Kirksville, Mo. next Wednesday, Oct. 5. Upper Iowa will ine up with the Bulldogs of Truman State in a rematch of last Sunday's Peacock win.
