In Upper Iowa's short Division II history, the Bulldogs of Truman State have had the Peacocks' number in men's soccer, winning by large margins. However, on Pattison Field this afternoon, UIU posted a 1-0 win that marks the progress of the men's soccer program.
With just eight minutes gone by in the game,
Derek Oelmann scored his fourth goal of the season on a 30 yard strike.
The shot was just one of Upper Iowa's 16, while Truman State attempted 27 shots. The Peacock defense stood up to the challenge with help from goalie
Andrew Youde, who snared six saves in the match to earn the shutout victory.
The win for Upper Iowa pushes their record to 4-3-1 and keeps UIU undefeated (3-0) at home this season.
The two teams will meet again in Kirksville, Mo. on Oct. 5 at 3 PM.
Next up for the Peacocks will be the Hawks of Viterbo on Wednesday, Sept. 28, beginning at 3 PM on Pattison Field in Fayette.
