The Peacock men's soccer team opened up their home slate this afternoon amid a rainy day in Fayette. Upper Iowa improved to 2-3-1 on the season with a 3-0 controlled win over Jamestown College.
Frank Atchison took a corner kick just before halftime and was credited with a goal after the ball bounced off of the Jamestown defenders and past their goal keeper for the game's first score. In the second half,
Zach Castor finished a header into the back of the net on a beautiful pair of assists from
Derek Oelmann and
Marco Garcia. The final goal of the match came when
Jason Olsgard finished a strike from ten yards away.
Andrew Youde earned the shutout victory while making four saves.
Each team took ten shots in the match, while Upper Iowa earned a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Peacocks will host Dakota Wesleyan on Pattison Field in Fayette this coming Wednesday at 4 p.m.
VIDEO Attached: Prior to the game, both Peacock soccer teams were joined by fans, family and friends, as well as university administration, to honor the memory of Dave Marchant, father of Justin, a senior on the men's team. It was a touching moment shared by all in attendance.
