This Week in Peacock Baseball...
The Peacocks are tied with three other teams in fifth place in the Northern Sun Conference with a .500 record in conference play. Upper Iowa is tied with Southwest Minnesota State, Concordia, and Wayne State. UIU has won five of their last six games and is currently 8-8 in NSIC games, all of which have come at Robertson Woods Field in Fayette.
Upper Iowa split a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon. The Peacocks dropped an extra inning affair in game one, 8-5 (8), to the Golden Bears of Concordia, but rallied to win the second game, 7-2. The home team had their chances to pull out a win in the first game, but couldn’t come up with the big hit in the late innings.
Matt Treybig continued his dominance on the mound. The junior right hander has allowed 6 runs, only 3 of them earned, in his last four starts. He has logged 31.2 innings on the hill in those four starts and has struck out 27 batters while allowing only 26 hits. The Orange, California native threw a complete game this afternoon to earn his third win and even his record to 3-3. He spent 7 innings on the mound and gave up two unearned runs while scattering 5 hits and striking out 5 CU batters.
