The Peacocks took an early lead on the road in their matchup with the Mavericks of Minnesota State,  but the home team used a second half run to take the lead.  UIU scored five straight points to tie the game with 12 seconds to play, but Minnesota State recorded the final score of the night which broke the tie and handed the Peacocks a 58-55 loss.  After the game, the Peacocks' record drops to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC.

The two teams came out even, but Upper Iowa took a 22-9 lead with 8:47 showing on the clock thanks to a 13-0 run that lasted six minutes.  The home Mavericks climbed back within four, 24-20, fueled by an 11-2 run of their own.  UIU's Sam Elgin hit a jumper in the paint as time wound down in the first half; the Peacocks headed to the locker room trailing 30-26.

Upper Iowa went on a 9-2 run over the first six minutes of the second half to establish a 39-28 lead; the run was fueled by three scores by UIU's Tucker Wentzien. 

As the clock moved under ten minutes to play, UIU got a trifecta from Mark Lafrenz to reestablish their 8 -point lead, 47-39.  Minnesota State began to find their rhythm launching a 14-1 run that spanned more than seven minutes.  The Mavericks took their 53-48 lead with 2:15 to play thanks to six Peacock turnovers during the time of the run. 

Still trailing by five, 55-50, UIU did not give up.  Upper Iowa pulled within two thanks to a three-point play from Elgin.  After a timeout, UIU forced MSU's Stephen Kirschbaum into a turnover.  Elgin, once again, hit a big bucket tying the match, 55-55, with 6 seconds remaining.

Kirschbaum found his redemption in the final seconds as he hit the gamewinner from three.
