The Beavers outscored the Peacocks 24-14 in the final seven minutes of their NSIC game in Fayette tonight en route to a ten-point victory, 70-60.  Upper Iowa had tied the game thanks to a quick run (11-2) of their own, but the visitors did not let the Peacocks take the lead and slowly built their lead into double digits over the remainder of the game.  With the loss, UIU falls to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC, while BSU improves to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

The road team jumped out to a 7-0 run, but the Peacocks rallied thanks to their bench.  Mike Lafrenz poured in 14 points in the first half dominating the paint for UIU.  The Beavers offense ran through senior James Ellisor, who scored 16 in the first twenty minutes.  BSU took their biggest lead of the first half at the 7:48 mark, 23-13, but Upper Iowa was able to shave a few points off the margin by halftime.  The Peacocks trailed by six, 34-28, heading to the break.

In the second half, the home team cut the gap to one, 36-35, on a pair of free throws by Jake Hughes, but the Beavers answered with a 8-0 run.  Trailing 44-35, the Peacocks pounded the ball inside and tied the game with an 11-2 run thanks to inside buckets by Lafrenz and three-straight by Tucker Wentzien.  The four scores in the paint tied the game at 46-46.

Over the final seven minutes, the Beavers held the Peacocks to just 4 of 13 shooting and forced 3 turnovers, while hitting a pair of trifectas and converting 14 of their 16 free throw opportunities.

The Peacock defense held the Beavers to 39% shooting, but gave up 13 offensive rebounds to their guests.  UIU shot 42% from the floor, but struggled from three hitting only 4 of their 15 shots from behind the arc.
